Watermelon Democracy

Hola everyone!!!

Sorry about the long hiatus....but ya know, ish happens! Now on to the important stuff:

I'm all about promoting young designers who have something going for themselves. And my friend Darrin Nobles is just that.

His line is coined "Watermelon Democracy", and features some pretty dope designs, if I don't say so myself. Below is a description of the name and pictures of the shirts he plans on cranking out to the masses:

"WATERMELON DEMOCRACY™ is the idea that through the development of our core and strengthening of our outer surface, we can achieve the success, power, and true freedom that we desire.Watermelon represents the hard outer surface while having a rich sweet soul. Just like a ripe Watermelon means its ready and fully prepared, as does a developed Watermelon represent a person fully prepared to take on life's challenges. Democracy symbolizes the power and freedom we should aspire to possess marked by a dedication towards empowering others."

Keep up the good work Darrin....you're going places!!! :)

Only a month left...

There's only about a month left until most of us are back to the school grind. You know what that means: get your fall wardrobe in check, get some new shoes, and find the right bag in which to carry your books and papers!

Personally, bags are my weakness. I could live without buying any new clothes if I could just buy a new bag every day. Since most of us carry out computers to class, these bags should be large enough to fit them, as well as a book or two.

oldnavy.com; Made of straw and comes in about 6 or 7 other striped/plaid variations.

Fossil; found at fossil.com. What a winsome way to go green!

Marc by Marc Jacobs; found at nordstrom.com. I have the black one! It seriously could hold a small child. It's huge! The inside print is really fun, and it will definitely carry everything that you need for class! It also works as a purse...my mom approves, so you know it's a good buy!

Juicy Couture; found at nordstrom.com. This soft puffy polyester backpack is kinda fly! I normally don't like Juicy, but this has a chic look to it that says, "Yeah, I'm educated and fabulous!"

And if you're really feeling good about yourself, here are totes from my three favorite handbag designers:

Coach; found at coach.com; This is the Bleecker tote from the best American leather goods company, Coach. Coach bags always last a long time and their classic pieces are timeless. And this tote is large enough to fit all your vital school supplies.

Gucci; found at gucci.com. My personal favorite! My tote doesn't look like this; mine is actually a diaper bag. But if you've ever seen me carry mine around, you'll know that it goes with everything. It's so easy to just toss in everything you need and go!

Louis Vuitton; found at louisvuitton.com. The Neverfull is going to be my next school bag. It's big enough for books and small enough to carry as a purse for the weekend. And again, it will complement any outfit!

Hopefully you all are getting your heads right for school, as well as your wardrobes. Have a great week and enjoy summer, while it lasts!

I got it for the low...

In light of prices shooting up to the heavens, it's important to be thrifty. You can do this without looking cheap, I assure you!!! Just be innovative and use good judgement.

I'll start out with the top. Both prices and temperatures seem like they're at all-time highs. So I stopped by Target to see what I could find that would be light and breezy to keep you cool.

I picked up a pack of size small v-necks in the men's section (since they don't make them for women) for around 6 or 7 dollars. A basic tee is so versatile and it's easy to throw on if you're in a rush. Pair with skinny jeans and colored sandals and you're good to go. Don't forget to add a chunky necklace to add more depth to your outfit.

Another frugal find I located at Old Navy. I usually have a "thing" about wearing rubber flip flops if you're not in the shower or by the pool, but Old Navy has decided to step its game up just a notch.
These shoes are only $2.50, and they're available in an assortment of other colors. Slide into these, some khaki cargo shorts, and a tank top and you're guaranteed to be comfortable for the rest of the day!

Check out oldnavy.com for more great deals! And if you're looking for cute jewelry for a good price, always stop by Forever 21 in your local mall, or shop online at GirlProps.com!

Stay cool this summer, and as always, be fabulous!

JAYE Magazine! Because college is more than a classroom...

Happy Hump Day!!!

I have a special treat for the innovator in all of you! My friend Michael Jones has started his own magazine entitled "JAYE". He's in his second issue (July 2008) and might I add, it is FANTASTIC! Michael is the editor in chief, and is constantly engulfed in the magazine. After attending Fashion Week in February, he was inspired to start the publication. He lives and breathes fashion, and has put his ideas in motion with the help of his staff. (And I am blessed and proud to be Associate Fashion Editor on this staff!)

Visit www.jayemag.com to read his blog and also read the CURRENT ISSUE

Check out pages 72-73 for the "20 under $20" feature done by yours truly! :)

Be a part of fashion history and get obsessed with the magazine!!! Then when you see JAYE on the stands next to the Vogue's, the Cosmo's, and the Harper'sBazaar's, you can say "I remember the first issues of that magazine!"

Have a safe Wednesday!

Happy Memorial Day!!!

Ya know, sometimes you just have to take a little break. And that's what me and Leslie have been doing. Don't worry, we're back ON IT for the summer! I know I can speak to all students when I say that the last month of school went by soooo slowly! We were all scrambling trying to get the grades we wanted, and I think everything paid off. (Well it did for me at least.)

This summer, it's all about COLOR. It's about sporting that fly sh*t that no one else will think to put together. It's about getting out of your comfort zone and looking your best at ALL times. Here are a couple of items I pulled that will be HOTTTT for your summer shindigs, trips to the mall, or just hanging out with old friends.

Hellz Bellz new Spring/Summer 08

I love the v-neck in the middle. I think sometimes we get limited in the kinds of tee's we wear. And the v-neck just adds a little bit of a different look. I LOVE Hellz Bellz and will continue to rock it forever! And the quality of their t-shirts are SUPREME! (Just remember to wash them in cold water to preserve the color.)

Neeext....Obey has some cutesy tee's to pair with your denim shorts!

I'm not really into screen tees with just the designer's name/logo on it, but the first one is cute!
The second one reminds me of the 90's for some reason. And shout out to MY posse...holdin' it down in STL! :)
That's Les in the middle.

Moving on to things that give me the chills: SNEAKERS. Remember the Ferris Bueller's we showed you a while back??? Well they've dropped and they are REALLY hard to find! I would tell you where my are from, but my boyfraaand bought them for me and he won't tell! Maybe Leslie will let you in on the secret...
Anyway, they're really super-duper dope, and probably my favorite sneaker so far! And they can go with anything. I love them sooo much!!! Here's some pics of Leslie and Brad sporting theirs and my little niece trying to wear mine:

Now that's what you call DuMb FlY.

Ok now for something a little more attainable.

I saw these Puma's online and in a store (Centre at Mockingbird Station for those in Dallas, so they shouldn't be that hard to find. I love the retro look and the pump...very fun!

Then the next is a Puma also.

Can't you just see yourself wearing these....maybe with that v-neck Hellz Bellz, a plain white tee, or whatever you wanna rock with it??? Yes? Gon' get ya some!!!

Oh before I forget, I wanted to feature on of my new favorite brands. I have yet to get any of their products, but their colorways are so hot and they have that bad-ass flair about them. The brand is none other than Married to the Mob, available on KarmaLoop and a lot of other websites. So here are three tee's that made me chuckle:

1. For those of you who aren't tied down because you're sick of the raggedy dudes.
2. For those of you who look at others like they're stupid, asking, "Do I look like I give a..."
3. For those of us who are too worried about gas prices to waste time on stupid batches. Get your money up everyone! Decrease the hate!

Hope you guys don't hate us too much for being so slow. But we all have busy lives, so you know the deal! Stay tuned for more exciting things for the summer!!!
